Rayma and Phillip are fourth generation New Zealanders whose pioneering ancestors arrived in New Zealand in the mid nineteenth century. The home we live in and invite you to share with us as a bed and breakfast was built a few years after the arrival of these relatives and is of this period. We have always had an interest in colonial furniture and accessories, having collected them for many years, and are now able to enjoy them in a home of the period they were designed for.
We have travelled extensively in New Zealand and overseas and have enjoyed many of the great walking tracks that New Zealand is well known for.
We moved to Napier for a lifestyle change at the end of 2001 and have since enjoyed running a busy B&B Homestay in this 1880’s villa. As we have renovated the house we have been able to trace some of the alterations made to the original house, and are also guided by photos held by the local museum of the house in the late nineteenth century.
Many plants and trees in the well established garden have been there for many years. We both enjoy gardening and find Napier with its warm, sunny climate makes it easy to have a flourishing garden. We hope you too will join us and enjoy the garden and the sense of history that emanates from the property.
